Frequently Asked Questions
Key FAQs
-
Great Q! To be classed as non-toxic, polishes must be 3-free at a minimum, meaning they're free of formaldehyde, toluene and dibutyl phthalate. Most non-toxic nail polishes on the market are typically labelled as 3-, 5-, 7- or 10-free.
At The Hyde - We use market leading products, to make sure both our regular and gel polish are:
NON TOXIC, 12 - FREE, CRUELTY FREE & VEGAN
With the added benefits of being highly pigmented, chip-resistant and offering extreme long lasting shine :)
-
Disinfection - Disinfection is the process of reducing harmful microorganisms from tools - not all. This leaves cross contamination possible.
Sterilisation - Sterilisation is the process of killing of all microorganisms from tools.
The strongest form of cleaning available.
The Hyde - Our tools are either single use or under go medical grade sterilisation after every service. No Exception. Because why would you risk it?
-
It is SO important! The consequences of unclean or used tools can cause a whole host of issues, including (but not limited to); MRSA infections, athlete's foot, HIV-1 and Hepatitis B and C.
These issues can be spread through the sharing of unsanitised nail files or other nail implements. Foot baths should be vigorously cleaned and sanitised between clients.
At THE HYDE - We are proud of our standards. We use a medical grade autoclave between clients (donโt just take our word for it, each sterilised bag is opened in front of you!) and we use single use tools where we are cant sterlise them. Because, with us - your health comes first!
-
We will open a sterilised pouch in front of you - which will have an indicator to prove its been steralised.
If we donโt open in front of you. please ask and your technician will be happy to replace the tools :)
Service FAQs
-
Our speedy nail services include a cuticle push back and the cutting of any hangnails.
We would recommend going for The Hyde Signature services if you need some more attention to your cuticles. This includes a cuticle push back and accurate cutting of any dead tissue, leaving the nail beds ready for a perfect application.
-
It does not. The speedy pedicure is great to refresh your colour with a quick touch up!
This service includes shaping, light cuticle care, buffing and your choice of either regular or gel polish and top coat.
-
We prep and apply the gel polish before we let the feet soak for multiple reasons:
1 - Soaking temporarily expands the nails -this then become an issue for gel application and longevity of the product.
2 - We also do the sole care before we soak the feet. This is because taking too much skin off causes a lot of issues - so we need to be careful and ensure we can see what we are removing.
-
A grater or any of the other sharp utensils should absolutely not be used in a beauty salon to remove tough skin from the feet.
The thickening of the skin on the feet is protective and can help keep out fungus and bacteria. Grating this thickened skin is basically opening up that area to bacteria, fungus, and yeast
The utensil is considered a banned item in salons in many states in America, because it can not only injure you, but also spread infection. We arenโt here to risk your health!
At The Hyde - We use either a file or a single use pumice stone to remove any excess skin. Over time, we will rebalance your feet so the body stops producing as much excess skin.
